Collision and Structural Repair

Collision and structural repair restores a commercial vehicle to its pre-accident condition by straightening or replacing damaged frame rails, cab structures, and body panels. Work covers everything from a bumper strike to a rollover rebuild, with damage documented for the insurance carrier before any panel is touched.

Overview

What this covers for Irvine fleets

A collision takes a truck out of the rotation, and every day it sits costs a fleet more than the repair line item does. Our collision department is built around getting commercial vehicles measured, documented, and back into production without the back-and-forth that stretches a two-week job into two months.

Damage on a commercial vehicle rarely stops at the panel you can see. A hit to the front corner of a box truck can twist the frame behind the cab, shift the body mounts, and throw off the door seal on the opposite side. We measure before we quote so the estimate reflects the whole repair rather than the visible part of it.

Every collision job starts with photographic documentation and a written damage report. That record is what supports the claim when a carrier questions a line item, and it is the difference between a repair that gets fully funded and one that gets negotiated down halfway through.

FAQ

Collision and Structural Repair questions

How long does commercial collision repair take?
A bumper and fender repair typically runs two to eighteen labor hours and clears the shop in under a week. A structural repair involving frame straightening or cab sectioning runs anywhere from ten to two hundred fifty labor hours depending on severity, and parts availability usually drives the calendar more than the labor does.
Do you work directly with the insurance carrier?
Yes. We document the damage, build the estimate, submit it to the adjuster, and handle supplement requests when hidden damage surfaces during teardown. You stay in the loop but you do not have to run the negotiation.
Can you repair a bent frame or does it have to be replaced?
Most commercial frame damage is repairable. We measure the rails against factory specification, straighten what is within tolerance, and section or replace only what falls outside it. Replacement is the answer when the damage is at a critical stress point or the rail is cracked rather than bent.
What happens if you find more damage after teardown?
That is normal on a collision job and it is why the supplement process exists. We photograph the newly exposed damage, write a supplement, and submit it to the carrier before proceeding. Work does not continue on unfunded damage without your authorization.
Will the repair affect the vehicle's resale value?
A properly documented, correctly executed structural repair holds value far better than an undocumented one. We keep the measurement records and the repair plan on file, which is exactly what a buyer or a leasing company wants to see at disposal.
