History

Our story

OCRV Fleet Repair Shop is the commercial fleet division of OCRV Center, which has operated in Orange County since 1989. The fleet side grew out of large-vehicle body work and now handles collision, paint, structural, electrical and upfit repair for Irvine operators.

Origin

Large vehicles since 1989

OCRV Center started in Orange County working on vehicles that would not fit in a normal body shop. That constraint shaped everything: bay sizes, booth length, the equipment for measuring a chassis rather than a unibody, and technicians who were used to bodies that bolt onto a frame instead of forming part of the structure.

Working on large vehicles teaches you things a car shop never encounters. Frame twist you cannot see. Bodies that flex independently of the chassis and crack their mounts if you attach them rigidly. Panels large enough that spraying them in sections leaves visible banding. Equipment that has to come off before you can reach the damage and go back on afterward.

The Shift

Why fleet work became its own division

Commercial fleets have a different problem from individual owners. An individual wants the vehicle repaired well. A fleet wants it repaired well and back in service before the operational hole it left costs more than the repair.

Serving that properly meant changing how the shop scheduled work rather than how it performed it. Staging multi-unit jobs so an operator loses one vehicle at a time. Ordering parts against the teardown schedule so a truck is not occupying a bay waiting for a panel. Batching similar work across several vehicles to cut both cost and total downtime.

It also meant getting good at the insurance side, because commercial claims involve upfit equipment, structural measurement and graphics reproduction that standard estimating systems do not account for. That is now a department rather than an afterthought.

Today

Serving Irvine fleets

The fleet division works with delivery operations, distribution fleets, contractors, municipal departments, rental operators and owner-operators across Irvine and the wider Orange County area. The shop is roughly 18 miles from Irvine via the 91, 57, 55.

Scope has stayed deliberately narrow. Body, paint, structural, electrical, interior, glass and equipment installation, all performed in-shop. No engine or drivetrain work, no DOT inspections, no mobile or roadside service. Doing a defined set of things properly beats doing everything adequately.
