Upfit work installs and repairs the equipment that turns a chassis into a working tool: liftgates, service bodies, cranes, toolboxes, racks, hitches, and emergency lighting. Installation includes the structural mounting that carries the load into the frame correctly.

An upfit is a structural modification, not an accessory fitting. A liftgate hanging off the back of a chassis applies a substantial cantilever load every cycle, and a service body transfers its weight and its contents through mounting points into the frame rails.

Get the mounting wrong and the frame develops cracks radiating from the mount holes eighteen months later. That is the failure we see most often on equipment installed by whoever was cheapest, and it turns a mounting problem into a frame repair.

We fabricate mounting that spreads load into the rail rather than concentrating it at a point, and we do the fabrication in-house so the mount is designed for the actual chassis rather than adapted from a generic kit.

Liftgate, Upfit and Equipment Install questions

Can you install a liftgate on any chassis?

Most chassis, yes, but the chassis has to have the capacity for the gate weight plus the rated load, and the frame section has to support the mounting. We check that before quoting rather than after installing.

Do you repair liftgates as well as install them?

Yes. Hydraulic leaks, cylinder failure, bent platforms, worn pins and bushings, and electrical faults are all routine liftgate repairs.

Can you move equipment from an old chassis to a new one?

Frequently yes, and it is often good economics. The equipment usually outlasts the chassis. We assess condition first and tell you honestly whether the transfer is worth doing.

Are there manufacturer restrictions on where equipment can mount?

Yes. Chassis manufacturers publish body builder guidance covering where you may and may not drill, weld, or mount on a given frame. We work within that guidance rather than improvising, which matters both structurally and for anything the manufacturer may later be asked about.
