Liftgate, Upfit and Equipment Install

Service and Utility Body Installation

Service body installation mounts a utility, mechanic, or specialty body to a cab chassis, including subframe fabrication, mounting, electrical integration, and lighting. It converts a bare chassis into a working service unit.

Subframe and integration

A service body does not bolt directly to frame rails. It sits on a subframe that spreads load and accommodates frame flex, because a rigidly mounted body on a flexing chassis cracks either the body or the frame.

Integration then covers lighting, power for compartment accessories, and any hydraulic supply for a crane or compressor.

  • Subframe fabrication and mounting
  • Body positioning for weight distribution
  • Compartment and work lighting
  • Power distribution and circuit protection
  • Hydraulic supply where a crane or compressor is fitted
  • Rear lighting and conspicuity compliance

FAQ

Service and Utility Body Installation questions

Can you move a service body to a new chassis?
Yes, and it is common when the chassis wears out before the body. We assess body condition first so you are not paying to move something near the end of its life.
How long does a service body install take?
Fifteen to sixty labor hours depending on the body and how much electrical and hydraulic integration is involved.
Do you handle weight distribution?
Yes. Body positioning affects axle loading and we set it so the finished unit is legal and drives properly.
