Full Vehicle Refinish
Symptoms
Signs you need this work
- Clear coat peeling or flaking across multiple panels
- Heavy oxidation that will not polish out
- Multiple mismatched previous repairs
- Fleet color change or rebranding
When a full refinish is the right call
There is a point where spot repair stops making financial sense. Once three or four panels have been refinished at different times against a surface that keeps oxidizing, every new repair looks newer than the last and the vehicle reads as patched.
A full refinish resets that. Every panel goes on at the same time with the same material, so the vehicle is uniform and stays uniform as it ages.
- Full surface preparation and existing finish assessment
- Repair of substrate defects before primer
- Sealer and primer system matched to substrate
- Single stage, base and clear, or multi stage systems
- Full length booth so there is no sectional banding
- Cut and polish to final finish
Preparation is most of the labor
Spray time on a full refinish is a small fraction of the hours. The labor is in stripping failed clear, correcting substrate defects, masking, and priming. A quote that looks unusually low almost always shortcuts preparation, and that shows up as adhesion failure within two years.
We assess the existing finish first and tell you honestly whether it needs stripping or whether it can be prepared and sprayed over, because the difference between those two is substantial.
Pricing
What this typically costs
Ballpark range
$5,000 to $30,000
40 to 200 labor hours
Commercial damage varies widely, so this is a range rather than a quote. The number for your vehicle comes from assessing the actual damage.
Collision estimates for insurance claim walk-ins carry no charge. Systems estimates are $150 and diagnostics are $285 per hour, both credited against an authorized repair.
