Paint and Refinishing

Paint Correction and Detailing

Paint correction removes surface defects from an intact finish by machine polishing: swirl marks, oxidation, light scratches, and water spotting. It restores gloss without refinishing and is the least expensive way to improve how an entire fleet presents.

What correction can and cannot fix

Correction works on defects that sit within the clear coat: swirls, oxidation, light scratches, and etching. It works extremely well on those and the improvement on a neglected fleet vehicle is dramatic.

It cannot fix anything that has gone through the clear. A scratch you can catch a fingernail in needs refinishing, not polishing.

  • Wash and decontamination
  • Clay treatment for bonded contaminants
  • Multi stage machine compounding and polishing
  • Sealant or ceramic application
  • Trim and glass detailing

Fleet presentation economics

For a fleet, correction is the highest return per dollar on appearance. A day of correction across several units changes how the whole operation looks for a fraction of what refinishing one vehicle costs.

It is also the right preparation step before applying a protective coating, since sealing over oxidation locks the oxidation in.

$400 to $3,500

3 to 20 labor hours

Commercial damage varies widely, so this is a range rather than a quote. The number for your vehicle comes from assessing the actual damage.

Collision estimates for insurance claim walk-ins carry no charge. Systems estimates are $150 and diagnostics are $285 per hour, both credited against an authorized repair.

FAQ

Paint Correction and Detailing questions

Will correction remove all scratches?
It removes anything inside the clear coat. Scratches deep enough to catch a fingernail have gone through and need refinishing.
How long does the result last?
The correction is permanent, since material has been removed. How long it looks that way depends on washing practice and whether a sealant or coating was applied afterward.
Can you do a whole fleet?
Yes, and batching is the efficient way to do it. Detail labor is billed at $95 per hour.
