Camera and Sensor Installation

Camera installation fits backup, side, and multi-camera systems with monitors and recording where required, plus proximity sensors. On large-bodied fleet vehicles these directly reduce the low-speed damage that generates most body repair work.

Prevention economics

Most fleet body damage happens below ten miles an hour, reversing, in confined spaces. A camera system costs a fraction of the bodywork it prevents over a couple of years, which makes it one of the few upgrades with an obvious payback.

Installation quality determines whether it survives. Cameras live in the weather and take vibration constantly, so the mounting and the cable routing matter as much as the camera.

  • Backup and side camera mounting
  • Multi-camera systems with switching
  • Monitor installation in the driver's sightline
  • Recording system installation where required
  • Proximity and blind spot sensors
  • Weather-sealed routing and connections

Ballpark range

$400 to $2,500

2 to 10 labor hours

Commercial damage varies widely, so this is a range rather than a quote. The number for your vehicle comes from assessing the actual damage.

Collision estimates for insurance claim walk-ins carry no charge. Systems estimates are $150 and diagnostics are $285 per hour, both credited against an authorized repair.

FAQ

Camera and Sensor Installation questions

Will a camera reduce our damage rate?
In our experience meaningfully, because most fleet body damage is low-speed reversing damage. It is one of the clearer returns on a fleet upgrade.
Can you add recording?
Yes. Recorded footage is genuinely useful in disputed incidents and in coaching drivers.
Do cameras survive pressure washing?
Properly sealed units and connections do. Poorly sealed ones fill with water and fail, which is an installation quality issue rather than a camera issue.
