# Tow and Recovery Vehicles Repair

Tow and recovery vehicle work covers deck and bed repair, structural welding at high-stress mounting points, wheel lift and boom mount inspection, lighting, and refinishing on carriers and wreckers.

Recovery vehicles apply enormous point loads through their mounting structures every time they work, and those mounts are where fatigue cracks appear. A crack at a boom mount is not a cosmetic finding.

Deck surfaces are consumables on carriers. Vehicles are winched across them under load, and the surface takes gouging and abrasion continuously.

Lighting on these units runs for long periods with the vehicle stationary at incident scenes, which puts a continuous load on the electrical system and makes proper circuit design more important than on a normal truck.
