# Trailer Lighting and Wiring

Trailer lighting work repairs and replaces marker, tail, brake, and turn lighting along with the harness, connectors, and grounds that feed them. Lighting faults are among the most common roadside inspection findings.

Range: $285 to $2,500

Collision estimates for insurance claim walk-ins carry no charge. Systems estimates are $150 and diagnostics are $285 per hour, both credited against an authorized repair.

## Grounds and connectors, almost always

Trailer lighting faults are rarely the lights themselves. They are corroded grounds, a damaged seven-way connector, or a harness that has chafed through where it passes over the frame.

Converting to sealed LED units alongside repairing the harness largely eliminates the recurring version of this problem.

- Marker, tail, brake and turn light replacement
- Seven-way and four-way connector repair
- Harness replacement and rerouting
- Ground point restoration
- Sealed LED conversion
- Function test across all circuits

## Questions

**Why do my trailer lights work intermittently?**

Corroded grounds or a worn connector, in the large majority of cases. Both are inexpensive to fix properly.

**Should I convert to LED?**

On a trailer, yes. Sealed LED units resist vibration and moisture far better than incandescent, and lighting faults are a common inspection finding.

**Can you rewire a whole trailer?**

Yes. On an older unit with widespread harness damage a full rewire is often cheaper than chasing faults repeatedly.
