# Trailer Frame and Structural Welding

Trailer frame repair addresses cracked and bent main rails, damaged crossmembers, failed welds at the kingpin or hitch area, and corrosion that has reduced structural section. All welding is performed in-shop by certified technicians.

Range: $750 to $20,000 and up

Collision estimates for insurance claim walk-ins carry no charge. Systems estimates are $150 and diagnostics are $285 per hour, both credited against an authorized repair.

## Symptoms

- Visible crack in a rail or crossmember
- Trailer tracking off center behind the truck
- Sagging in the middle of the deck
- Movement or noise at the hitch or kingpin area

## Where trailers crack

Cracks concentrate where load changes direction: at crossmember-to-rail joints, at suspension hanger mounts, and around the kingpin or coupler. Those are the places a structural walkaround should look first.

Corrosion is the quieter version of the same problem. A rail that has lost section to rust has lost strength proportionally, and it fails without ever showing a crack first.

## Questions

**Is a repaired trailer frame safe?**

A correctly executed structural repair returns the section to strength. The determination of whether it can be repaired versus replaced comes from inspection and measurement rather than assumption.

**Can you repair a trailer that has been jackknifed?**

Frequently yes. The damage is usually to the front corner structure and the rails, and it is measurable and repairable if it is within tolerance.

**How long does frame work take?**

Five to eighty labor hours depending on damage extent and how much has to come off to reach the structure.
