# Bed Liner and Protective Coating

Spray-in bed liner and protective coating apply a durable textured layer to cargo floors, bumpers, rocker panels, and underbody areas. On working fleet vehicles it prevents the abrasion and corrosion damage that otherwise turns into panel replacement.

Range: $500 to $1,800

Collision estimates for insurance claim walk-ins carry no charge. Systems estimates are $150 and diagnostics are $285 per hour, both credited against an authorized repair.

## Where coating pays for itself

Cargo floors take constant abrasion from loading. Rocker panels and lower body take road debris. Underbody takes moisture and salt. All three are cheaper to protect than to repair, and the repair is usually panel replacement rather than a patch.

The coating is also a practical improvement for drivers, since a textured cargo floor is far less slippery loaded than bare metal or worn paint.

- Spray-in cargo floor and bed liner
- Bumper and rocker panel coating
- Underbody and chassis corrosion coating
- Wheel well and arch protection
- Anti-slip textured finish for load areas

## Preparation determines adhesion

Coating over rust or a contaminated surface fails at the bond line, usually in sheets, and the failure traps moisture underneath so it is worse than no coating.

Surface preparation is most of the labor here. If there is existing corrosion it gets addressed before anything is sprayed.

## Questions

**Can you coat over existing rust?**

No, not if you want it to hold. Corrosion gets removed and the metal treated first, otherwise the coating traps moisture against the rust and accelerates it.

**How long does a spray-in liner last?**

Many years on a cargo floor in normal service. It is a wear surface, so heavy abrasive loads will shorten that, but it is far cheaper to recoat than to replace a floor.

**Does underbody coating help in Southern California?**

Yes, particularly on units that run coastal routes or that go into the mountains in winter where road salt is used.
