Commercial refinishing differs from automotive work in scale and in matching requirements, because a fleet color has to look identical across vehicles bought years apart. Fleet paint is a brand problem as much as a repair problem. A delivery van with a mismatched door panel advertises deferred maintenance to every customer it parks in front of, and on a fleet running a corporate color the match has to hold across vehicles that left the factory in different years with different pigment batches. Our paint department runs a dedicated booth sized for commercial vehicles, which matters because refinishing a twenty-six foot box in sections produces visible banding that a full-length booth avoids entirely. Color matching on commercial work is done by spectrophotometer against the actual panel rather than against a factory code. A ten year old white box truck is not the same white it was when it was built, and matching to the code rather than the vehicle produces a repair that reads as a repair. ## Services in this category ### Full Vehicle Refinish A full refinish strips, prepares, and resprays the entire vehicle in a single continuous process. It is the correct answer when oxidation, clear coat failure, or accumulated repairs have left the finish inconsistent enough that panel work will never look right against it. Range: $5,000 to $30,000 ### Color Matching and Panel Blending Color matching identifies the vehicle's actual current color by spectrophotometer reading of the existing panel, then blends the new finish into surrounding panels so the transition has no visible edge. It is the difference between a repair nobody notices and one everybody does. Range: $500 to $5,000 ### Panel Refinishing Panel refinishing prepares and sprays individual panels after repair or replacement. It covers substrate preparation, primer, color, and clear, with the sprayed area extended into adjacent panels as far as the color and finish require to keep the repair invisible. Range: $500 to $5,500 ### Clear Coat Restoration and UV Protection Clear coat restoration addresses the transparent protective layer that fails first on fleet vehicles. Where the clear has thinned but not delaminated it can be cut and polished. Where it has peeled or flaked, the affected area must be stripped and resprayed, because clear cannot be applied over failing clear. Range: $500 to $6,500 ### Cab and Chassis Respray A cab and chassis respray refinishes the tractor or cab unit and the exposed chassis components as a coordinated job. It is common at lease turn-in, at resale preparation, and when a used unit is being brought into a fleet running a standard corporate color. Range: $5,000 to $35,000 and up ### Paint Correction and Detailing Paint correction removes surface defects from an intact finish by machine polishing: swirl marks, oxidation, light scratches, and water spotting. It restores gloss without refinishing and is the least expensive way to improve how an entire fleet presents. Range: $400 to $3,500 ### Bed Liner and Protective Coating Spray-in bed liner and protective coating apply a durable textured layer to cargo floors, bumpers, rocker panels, and underbody areas. On working fleet vehicles it prevents the abrasion and corrosion damage that otherwise turns into panel replacement. Range: $500 to $1,800 ## Questions **How do you match paint on a faded fleet vehicle?** We match against the actual panel using a spectrophotometer, not against the factory paint code. A vehicle that has been in the California sun for eight years has shifted from its original color, and matching to the code produces a panel that is visibly newer than the ones around it. We also blend into adjacent panels so the transition has nowhere to show. **How long does a full respray take?** A full commercial refinish runs forty to two hundred labor hours depending on vehicle size and how much preparation the existing surface needs. Calendar time is usually two to five weeks, with most of that being preparation and cure rather than spray time. **Can you paint one panel or does the whole side need doing?** A single panel is often fine when it is bounded by a natural break such as a body line or a seam. On a large flat side with no break, blending into the adjacent area is what keeps the repair invisible, so the sprayed area ends up larger than the damaged one. **Do you use low VOC paint?** Yes. California air quality regulation governs what can be sprayed here and our booth and materials comply with it. Low VOC systems have improved considerably and there is no longer a durability trade-off worth discussing. **How long before the vehicle can go back into service?** Handling cure is usually same day out of the booth.
