# Cargo Shelving and Racking Installation

Shelving installation fits interior storage systems to cargo vans and box bodies, secured to the vehicle structure so the racking and its contents stay put under braking and cornering rather than becoming a projectile.

Range: $750 to $7,500

Collision estimates for insurance claim walk-ins carry no charge. Systems estimates are $150 and diagnostics are $285 per hour, both credited against an authorized repair.


## Secured to structure

Shelving fastened into thin wall sheet will tear out in a hard stop. Racking has to attach to the vehicle's structural members, with backing where the fastener passes through panel.

Layout matters as much as attachment. A well laid out van reduces how long a technician spends looking for parts on every single job, which compounds across a year.

## Questions

**Will drilling for shelving cause rust?**

Not if the penetrations are sealed and treated at installation. Untreated drilled holes in a van wall are a common source of corrosion later.

**Can you outfit a batch of identical vans?**

Yes, and standardizing the layout across a fleet means a technician can work out of any van without relearning where things are.

**Do you install bulkheads too?**

Yes, and a bulkhead is worth fitting alongside shelving since it is the barrier between the load and the driver.
