# Decal and Wrap Removal

Removal takes off previous graphics without damaging the finish underneath, using controlled heat, correct pull angle, and appropriate adhesive solvents. It is required at lease turn-in, resale, and whenever a used unit enters a fleet carrying another operator's branding.

Range: $400 to $3,000

Collision estimates for insurance claim walk-ins carry no charge. Systems estimates are $150 and diagnostics are $285 per hour, both credited against an authorized repair.

## Removal without damage

Vinyl becomes brittle as it ages. A wrap that is past its service life will come off in fragments rather than sheets, and forcing it cold takes clear coat with it. The technique is controlled heat, a shallow pull angle, and patience.

After the vinyl is off there is adhesive residue, which needs the correct solvent rather than an aggressive one. The wrong solvent softens the clear coat underneath.

- Controlled heat application and shallow angle removal
- Adhesive residue removal with finish-safe solvent
- Assessment of the finish underneath after removal
- Correction of ghosting where graphics shielded the paint

## Ghosting

Where a decal has protected the paint underneath for years, the surrounding paint has faded and the covered area has not. Removing the graphic reveals a visible outline.

That is correctable by machine polishing in mild cases and needs refinishing in severe ones. We assess it before removal so you know which one you are looking at.

## Questions

**Will removal leave marks?**

Possibly, and it is usually ghosting rather than damage: the paint under the graphic has not faded at the same rate as the paint around it. Polishing handles mild cases.

**How long does removal take?**

Two to twelve labor hours depending on coverage and how old and brittle the vinyl has become. An old, sun-baked wrap takes considerably longer than a recent one.

**Do you remove and rebrand in one visit?**

Yes, and that is the efficient sequence: remove, correct the finish, then apply the new graphics.
