# Auxiliary Battery and Inverter Systems

Auxiliary power systems add a separate battery bank and inverter so a vehicle can run tools, refrigeration, or equipment without idling the engine or draining the starting battery. Installation covers the bank, charging, isolation, and AC distribution.

Range: $750 to $7,500

Collision estimates for insurance claim walk-ins carry no charge. Systems estimates are $150 and diagnostics are $285 per hour, both credited against an authorized repair.


## Sizing to the actual load

The system has to be sized against what you actually run and for how long. An undersized bank gets discharged too deeply every day and fails in a year, which is why cheap installs end up costing more.

Isolation matters just as much. The auxiliary bank must never be able to flatten the starting battery, or the first cold morning after a long stationary job becomes a callout.

## Questions

**Lithium or AGM?**

Lithium is lighter, tolerates deeper discharge, and lasts longer, at a higher initial cost. AGM is cheaper up front. On a vehicle cycling daily, lithium usually wins on total cost over the vehicle's life.

**Can I run a refrigeration unit off it?**

Depends on the load and the run time. We size against the actual duty cycle rather than guessing.

**Will it charge while driving?**

Yes, via an isolator or a DC to DC charger. A DC to DC charger is the better answer on modern vehicles with smart alternators.
