Electrical faults are the most frustrating problem on a fleet vehicle because they are intermittent. A light that works in the yard and fails on the route, a liftgate that is slow only when loaded, a camera that drops out over bumps. These are almost always connection or voltage drop problems rather than component failures. The other half of our electrical work is building capability: auxiliary battery banks, inverters, and solar so a service vehicle can run equipment without idling the engine all day. Scope note: this is body and accessory electrical work. Engine management and drivetrain electronics are outside what we do. ## Services in this category ### Electrical Diagnostics and Fault Finding Electrical diagnostics traces faults in body, accessory, and upfit wiring using voltage drop testing, circuit isolation, and load testing. The objective is to find the actual cause rather than replacing components until the symptom disappears. Range: $285 to $5,000 and up ### Auxiliary Battery and Inverter Systems Auxiliary power systems add a separate battery bank and inverter so a vehicle can run tools, refrigeration, or equipment without idling the engine or draining the starting battery. Installation covers the bank, charging, isolation, and AC distribution. Range: $750 to $7,500 ### Solar Panel Installation Solar installation fits roof-mounted panels with a charge controller and wiring into an auxiliary battery system, extending how long a vehicle can run equipment while stationary without idling the engine. Range: $1,500 to $12,000 ### LED Lighting Upgrades LED lighting upgrades replace incandescent and halogen fixtures with LED equivalents across cargo areas, work zones, exterior marker positions, and interior spaces, reducing current draw and largely eliminating bulb replacement. Both are found by testing under the conditions where the fault occurs rather than at idle in a bay. **Do you diagnose engine electrical faults?** No. We work on body, accessory, and upfit electrical systems. Engine management and drivetrain electronics are outside our scope and we will tell you that rather than charging diagnostic time on something we do not repair. **How is diagnostic time charged?** Diagnostics run at $285 per hour with a one hour minimum, credited against an authorized repair when you proceed with the work. **Can solar keep my equipment running without idling?** For moderate loads, often yes. It depends on the daily energy requirement against available roof area.
