# Wall and Roof Skin Replacement

Skin replacement removes and installs the outer sheet on a cargo body wall or roof when damage is too extensive for sectional repair. Work includes the structure behind the skin, since roof and wall damage usually reaches the framing.

Range: $1,000 to $15,000

Collision estimates for insurance claim walk-ins carry no charge. Systems estimates are $150 and diagnostics are $285 per hour, both credited against an authorized repair.


## When sectioning is not enough

Damage across most of a panel, damage running through multiple seams, or a roof that has been penetrated at several points is past the point where sectioning is economical or will look right.

Full skin replacement also allows proper inspection and repair of the framing underneath, which on a water-damaged body is usually where the real problem is.

## Questions

**Roof repair or full roof replacement?**

It depends on how many penetration points there are and how far water has travelled in the structure. One clean strike is a repair. A roof with several old patched leaks is usually better replaced.

**Will the new skin match the existing finish?**

We refinish to match, blending into the adjacent surfaces. On a wrapped body the graphics get reproduced across the new panel.

**How long does skin replacement take?**

Eight to sixty labor hours depending on the panel size and how much framing repair is needed behind it.
