# Reefer Skin and Liner Repair

Refrigerated body repair restores damaged insulated panels by addressing the outer skin, the foam core, and the interior liner as a system. A repair that fixes only the skin leaves a thermal bridge that shows up as an area the reefer unit cannot hold temperature against.

Range: $1,000 to $18,000

Collision estimates for insurance claim walk-ins carry no charge. Systems estimates are $150 and diagnostics are $285 per hour, both credited against an authorized repair.

## Symptoms

- Reefer unit running longer to hold set point
- Frost or condensation forming on an interior wall area
- Visible damage or delamination on an insulated panel
- Interior liner cracked or pulled away

## Repairing the thermal barrier, not just the skin

An insulated panel is a sandwich: outer skin, foam core, inner liner. Damage that crushes or wets the foam destroys the insulation value in that area permanently, and skinning over it hides the problem without fixing it.

We remove the damaged core, install new insulation, and restore both skins with a sealed perimeter. The tell that a previous repair skipped this is condensation forming on the interior wall in exactly that spot.

- Damaged foam core removal and replacement
- Outer skin sectioning and sealing
- Interior liner repair or replacement
- Vapor barrier restoration at the repair perimeter
- Door seal inspection and replacement

## Questions

**Why is my reefer struggling after a body repair?**

Most commonly because the repair restored the skin without replacing wet or crushed foam behind it. That area becomes a thermal bridge and the unit works continuously trying to compensate.

**Can wet insulation be dried out?**

Not reliably. Closed cell foam that has taken water holds it, and the insulation value does not come back. Replacement is the durable answer.

**Do you replace reefer door seals?**

Yes. Door seals are a very common source of thermal loss and are far cheaper to replace than the energy they waste.
