# Box, Cargo Body and Reefer Repair

Box and cargo body repair addresses the load-carrying structure behind the cab: side and roof skins, floors, doors, and insulated reefer panels. This is the highest-wear area on a delivery fleet because it absorbs damage from docks, forklifts, and cargo every working day.

The box takes more damage than any other part of a delivery vehicle. Dock strikes, forklift punctures, cargo shifting into a wall, and roof damage from low clearances are routine rather than exceptional, and each one is a hole in the weather barrier that keeps the load dry.

On refrigerated bodies the stakes go up. A damaged insulated panel is not just a cosmetic problem, it is a thermal leak that pushes the reefer unit to work harder and puts the cold chain at risk on a hot Orange County afternoon.

Most box repair is sectional rather than full replacement, which keeps cost and downtime proportional to the damage instead of to the size of the body.

## Services in this category

### Box Body Repair
Box body repair covers the walls, roof, and structure of a cargo box: puncture repair, panel sectioning, corner post repair, and re-securing panels that have loosened from the frame. Work restores both the weather seal and the structural integrity of the body.
Range: $750 to $15,000

### Reefer Skin and Liner Repair
Refrigerated body repair restores damaged insulated panels by addressing the outer skin, the foam core, and the interior liner as a system. A repair that fixes only the skin leaves a thermal bridge that shows up as an area the reefer unit cannot hold temperature against.
Range: $1,000 to $18,000

### Roll-Up Door Repair
Roll-up door service covers damaged slats, worn rollers and tracks, broken springs and cables, and seal replacement. A door that binds or will not close fully slows every stop on a delivery route and lets weather into the load.
Range: $400 to $4,500

### Swing and Barn Door Repair
Swing door service covers hinges, latches, hold-backs, seals, and the door structure itself on barn-style cargo doors. Alignment is the core of the work, because a door that has dropped will not seal regardless of how new the gasket is.
Range: $400 to $4,500

### Cargo Floor Repair and Replacement
Cargo floor work replaces damaged or rotted decking, repairs the crossmembers underneath, and restores the floor-to-wall seal. Floor failure usually starts as water intrusion from a leak elsewhere, so the repair addresses the source as well as the deck.
Range: $500 to $9,500

### Wall and Roof Skin Replacement
Skin replacement removes and installs the outer sheet on a cargo body wall or roof when damage is too extensive for sectional repair. Work includes the structure behind the skin, since roof and wall damage usually reaches the framing.
Range: $1,000 to $15,000

## Questions

**Can a punctured box side be repaired without replacing the whole panel?**

Almost always. We cut back to sound material and section in new skin at a supported seam. Full side replacement is reserved for damage that runs across most of the panel or where the structure behind it is compromised.

**How urgent is a hole in the box?**

More urgent than it looks. Water entering through a puncture gets into the floor and the wall structure, and a small penetration turns into floor rot and delaminated panels over a season. It is much cheaper caught early.

**Do you repair insulated refrigerated bodies?**

Yes. Reefer panel repair has to restore the thermal barrier, not just the skin, which means addressing the foam core rather than skinning over damaged insulation.

**How long is a box truck down for floor replacement?**

Floor work runs four to forty labor hours depending on whether it is a section or a full deck, and on what has to come out to access it.
